Riya Desai, Senior Dietitian, Wockhardt Hospitals, said, "Chia seeds can be consumed on an empty stomach as they're rich in fiber, omega 3 fatty acids, protein and also have cooling properties! Consuming chia seeds on an empty stomach can help maintain the gut integrity and keeps it healthy."
Dr Dilip Gude, Senior Consultant Physician, Yashoda Hospitals said, "Chia seeds have abundant fibre. They are rich in calcium and bone supporting minerals. They are rich in antioxidants, omega 3 fatty acids, improves hydration especially when taken with water and also known to improve digestion." He further added, "It is suggested to be taken on empty stomach with water as this helps in better absorption. About 2 to 3 tablespoons or about 30g chia seeds are recommended daily. Better to take with ground ginger as well."
Benefits of consuming Chia Seeds water
Dietician Riya says that Chia seeds are anti-inflammatory. They also strengthening skin barrier, and help aid weight management. It contains essential nutrients like fiber, potassium, minerals, vitamins, omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, proteins, and fiber.
"They're an excellent addition to the diet to promote weight loss and also plays a great role in maintaining the sugars for diabetic patients owing to its fiber and protein content However, one should exercise caution while eating chia seeds and consult an expert for expert guidance regarding the quantity of consumption. It is easily accessible and even added to the menus of various cafes and restaurants," she added.
What can be the substitutes of Chia Seeds water?
There are various healthy alternatives to chia seeds such as quinoa, flaxseeds, oats, sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, amaranth seeds, and black sesame seeds.
