Integrative lifestyle expert Luke Coutinho took to his official Instagram handle where he shared a case study about a 32-year-old Priyanka who is diagnosed with thyroid issues, has been suffering from constipation and is struggling with low energy levels even with 8 hours of sleep. Luke’s Instagram post read about how her TSH ((thyroid stimulating hormone) was over 14, T3 and T4 out of whack. “Slightly elevated liver enzymes and mild fatty liver. She had rightly been put on medicine for over 4 years now and the dosage has increased once but never came any lower, despite her physical activity and eating clean. However, we asked her D3 test to be done which wasn’t the root cause. Her lifestyle was good but then we got down to oils and salts,” his post read.
The post further revealed that a few years ago Priyanka switched from white salt to pink salt completely after watching some content. The problem and root cause was the lack abd deficiency of iodine.
As per the post, pink salt is healthy but not complete. It contains potassium chloride and trace minerals in abundance but lacks sodium chloride and iodine. Priyanka being a pure vegetarian, was diagnosed with a lack of iodine as she completely shifted to pink salt. “Sodium chloride is necessary so one can do a mix usually 50-50 depending on your health,” the post read. After 6 months, Priyanka now has a perfect gut with no constipation, her energy levels are back to normal and her fat percentage has reduced just by correcting iodine deficiency and shifting back to normal salt.
