Beyonce Knowles-Carter is a name to reckon with. Known for her impeccable voice, powerful songs, and amazing fashion sense, the 33 Grammy Awards winner—at 43—is super fit and has a figure to die for. But how does she maintain it?
Netflix's recent Homecoming documentary, which chronicled the singer’s prep for her epic Coachella performance, included hours of strenuous workouts, dance rehearsals, and a 44-day vegan diet. In her own words, Beyonce says she does not follow an extremely strict diet, which helps her maintain and balance various kinds of foods.
Beyonce’s protein-loaded breakfast
Knowing the power of breakfast for health and overall well-being, Beyonce consumes protein-laden foods to help her stay energetic through a busy day. Sharing the table with her husband Jay-Z and three kids, Beyonce says she has a working breakfast, which includes eggs and a smoothie.
"I always have breakfast—say, scrambled egg whites, a vegetable smoothie, or whole-grain cereal with low-fat milk," Beyoncé told SHAPE magazine. Also, the Formation singer says she drinks a lot of water—at least a gallon—along with lemons to stay hydrated.
Lunch is meat and veggies
Beyonce’s lunch menu is packed with lean meat and seasonal vegetables—to incorporate as many food groups as possible. “For lunch and dinner, I eat a lot of fish and vegetables," she says in that same SHAPE interview. However, she does not keep away from carbs, as she adds quinoa, pita, and even the occasional pizza to satisfy her cravings.
For pizza toppings, Beyonce loves cheese and basil with a simple side of roasted vegetables.
Does Beyonce snack? Yes.
Yes, Beyonce is a huge fan of homemade popcorn and fruits. Between meals, she also enjoys a handful of nuts, some homemade protein bars with bananas, and seasonal fruits, specifically oranges.
What’s in Beyonce’s dinner?
During the week, Beyonce says her dinner is often lean protein like fish, which she likes mostly grilled along with some vegetables on the side.
However, for weekends, especially Sunday and date nights, she allows for a little more wiggle room. Since she loves Italian, she does go out for dining to some of her favourite restaurants like Mamo, Bar Pitti, and Lucali in New York City, or even helps herself to her favourite spaghetti—even when she is travelling. "I always treat myself to one meal on Sundays when I can have whatever I want. Usually, it's pizza, which is my favorite indulgence," she told SHAPE.
