Fitness influencer Ashton Hall has gone viral with his intense morning routine, leaving many both surprised and cynical. The 29-year-old went viral for his ultra-disciplined regimen, which begins at 3:52 a.m. and wraps up by 9:30 a.m. Hall, who has a massive following on Instagram and TikTok, shared his routine, which consists of plunging his face into a bowl of Saratoga Spring Water and rubbing banana peels on it.
While his posts have had a billion views, many have questioned the unrealistic routine, setting off a debate on the health relevance of some of these trends.
What is Hall's morning routine?
The clips feature Hall taping his mouth, which Hall believes helps reduce snoring and improve sleep apnea. He then works out on his terrace from 4 a.m. for 20 minutes and then writes a journal.
He then quickly plunges his face into a bowl of ice and bottled Saratoga water.
After finishing that, Hall decks up in his workout gear and heads to the gym to run on the treadmill. At around 7.30, he takes a dip in a swimming pool and thereafter takes a shower at 8.20 a.m. and snacks on a banana. He rubs the peel of the same fruit across his face, which is said to be among the best ways to treat acne and hyperpigmentation.
And as he doves into his work, Hall then begins to eat some scrambled eggs, two slices of avocado toast, and bacon—followed by a few gulps of his Saratoga Spring Water.
A few wellness trends that Hall follows
Mouth taping
Mouth taping is a trend that involves placing special adhesive tape over your lips at night to keep your mouth closed and to stop breathing from your mouth while you sleep. According to experts, this popular wellness trend forces you to breathe through your nose, which has many benefits, including:
Controlling the temperature of the air you breathe so that it reaches your lungs is not too cold or too warm.
Filtering allergens, debris, or toxins from the air before they reach your lungs
Making the air you breathe humid and keeping your mouth and throat moist
Snoring throughout the night is often a hallmark of sleep apnea. Mouth taping helps if you have mild sleep apnea. According to studies, mouth taping can help you snore less, especially in those with positional sleep apnea.
Dipping cold water on your face
According to experts, ice or cold water has surprising benefits for humans. Cold exposure is linked with lowered levels of stress hormones, and it helps get you a chill sensation, which will have a calming effect on the nervous system. This, in turn, might help you to start your day with a focused and bright mindset.
Cold water also helps narrow the blood vessels and triggers blood circulation, which delivers oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells, giving you a radiant complexion. According to experts, ice has anti-inflammatory properties, which treat acne and calm the inflamed skin while reducing the size of your pores.
Effect of banana peel on your skin
Bananas are a powerhouse of antioxidants, fibre, and potassium and help in overall health and wellness. Rubbing a peel on your skin helps reduce wrinkles by acting as a moisturiser and helping to hydrate your skin. It also helps:
Lessen the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines
Reduce dark circles under your eyes
Soothe inflammation
Morning exercise
Exercise in the morning has distinct metabolic effects. According to studies, the timing of exercise influences your body's metabolic response, with morning workouts helping potentially enhance fat metabolism, improving glucose tolerance, reducing fatigue, and boosting your energy levels.
Apart from keeping you fit, morning exercises also help in improving sleep and better focus throughout the day.
