Woman Who Thought Had Anxiety, Diagnosed With Blood Cancer With the Help of Chat GPT; Symptoms of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
When Marly put her symptoms on Chat GPT, it gave her a detailed explanation that she most likely had blood cancer
A 27-year-old woman says Chat GPT could correctly diagnose her blood cancer after she initially thought her symptoms were due to anxiety. For Marly Garnreiter, her signs of night sweats and itchy skin were for sure due to her mental health condition, which she says was after her father passed away due to bowel cancer.
However, Marly was also losing weight significantly, which got her worried. And when she put her symptoms on the AI app, it gave her a detailed explanation that she most likely had blood cancer. However, being sceptical, Marly ignored it.
But after feeling tired all the time and feeling continuous pressure in her chest, she went to see the doctor, who ran a scan and saw a mass on her left lung. After that, she was referred to a pulmonologist who did a biopsy, which diagnosed Marly with Hodgkin's lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. "I started to lose a lot of weight when he'd (father) just passed away. I kept eating normal amounts of food, but I thought it must be the anxiety making me lose a lot of weight. I'd accepted you lose weight with grief,” she told The Sun.
Hodgkin’s lymphoma starts in white blood cells known as lymphocytes, which are part of the lymphatic system and are characterized by the presence of Reed-Sternberg cells. Marly has now begun her chemotherapy sessions, which she will receive four to six rounds of - and is taking it all "step by step."
What is Hodgkin’s lymphoma?
Also known as Hodgkin's disease, this is a group of blood cancers that develop in your lymphatic system and is one of two main types of lymphoma. These cancers affect important white blood cells in your immune system known as lymphocytes.
Hodgkin lymphomas form when genes inside B lymphocytes mutate, or change, at some point in your life. Hodgkin lymphomas typically start in the lymph nodes in your neck or chest cavity. They may also develop in groups of lymph nodes under your arms or in your groin, belly, or pelvis areas.
Signs and symptoms of Hodgkin’s lymphoma
The most common first sign of Hodgkin lymphoma is painless, swollen lymph nodes in your neck, underarm, or groin. A few other symptoms include:
Persistent fatigue
It makes you feel much more tired than usual for at least several days.
Unexplained fever
A high fever that remains for two or more hours after home treatment or lasts longer than two days may be a sign of a serious issue.
Night sweats
Sweating becomes so intense that it drenches your sheets and clothes.
Unexplained weight loss
You may lose a lot of weight even without trying
Itchy skin
Many with Hodgkin lymphoma have very itchy skin after drinking alcohol or taking a bath.
Chest pain
It may be a symptom of Hodgkin lymphoma in your lung tissues or lymph nodes inside of your chest.
Breathlessness
