Sara Ali Khan has often spoken about her weight loss journey and her struggles with PCOD. The actress weighed 96 kilos during her teen years. And despite that, there was no stopping her. In a podcast with Ranveer Allahbadia, Sara talked about her journey as she acknowledged that she had entered a "downward spiral."
The 'Downward Spiral'
"What also happens sometimes is that you can go into a downward spiral, with anything. So when you wake up in the morning and you're like 85 kilos and nothing really fits, you're like 85-96 - what difference does it make? And that's what started happening to me. Because I was in college and already fat." She further revealed that the actress has problems with weight until now. "Its important for me to stay on track with weight," Sara said.
She further mentioned how motivation is always required for her to reach a certain goal. "I am somebody that works very hard on motivation. So when, there is like an end goal in mind, almost nothing is impossible."
Sara also spoke about how eating bad food affected her mental health. "You definitely should keep check on what you are eating because it affects more than just your visual appearance, it affects your hormonal balance and that is extremely important."
Ever since then, Sara has embraced a regular workout routine to shed the extra pounds. Her fitness regimen reportedly included a mix of cardio exercises, strength training, pilates, and yoga. Sara completely gave up on eating junk food and started eating clean. She focused on healthy eating, incorporating a mix of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Portion control was also a crucial aspect of her dietary approach.
The Kedarnath actress was so determined to shed those extra kilos that she finished her graduation early and got on to fitness training to lose weight. She also decided that she would not FaceTime or video call her mother until she had achieved her weight loss goal. The actor lost around 40 kgs in one and a half years while she was in the United States.
