We got in touch with Dr Mahesh Kumar Gupta, Senior Consultant – Gastroenterology, Marengo Asia Hospital, Gurugram who shares some effective ways to boost your digestion and keep your gut healthy during the monsoon.
1. Opt for Light and Fresh Meals
Dr Mahesh Gupta shares that during the monsoon, heavy and oily foods can be difficult to digest and may lead to sluggishness. Instead, focus on light, fresh, and easily digestible meals. Incorporate plenty of fruits and vegetables, particularly those rich in fibre, to aid in digestion and prevent constipation. Leafy greens, gourds, and carrots are excellent choices that provide essential nutrients and are gentle on the stomach.
2. Stay Hydrated
Dr Mahesh Gupta explains that hydration plays a key role in maintaining gut health. The humid weather can cause dehydration, which may lead to digestive problems. Drinking adequate water helps in the smooth functioning of the digestive system by flushing out toxins.
